Raritan Twp Police Dept Press Release: December 15, 2017

Monday, December 4, 2017 @ approximately 9:42 AM - Police arrested John R. Kopitskie, age 18 of Milford, NJ and charged him with theft from Home Depot on Rt. 202/31. Police were initially called to the store by a loss prevention employee for a report of theft involving a store employee. Through investigation on scene, police learned that Kopitskie had stolen cash from the register by voiding transactions while working as a cashier at the store over the past several months. Kopitskie was charged with theft of moveable property - value in excess of $500.00 but less than $75,000.00. He was released after processing at police headquarters. Investigation and arrest by P.O. Friday, December 8, 2017 @ approximately 4:55 PM - Police arrested Megan B. Jeffrey, age 41 of Stewartsville, NJ and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol following a motor vehicle stop on Case Boulevard. Police were initially called to the area for a reported aggressive driver. A vehicle description and partial license plate number were provided. Police located the described vehicle disabled on the shoulder of Case Boulevard. After investigation on scene, Jeffrey was placed under arrest. She was issued additional motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lane control, careless driving and reckless driving. The vehicle was towed and Jeffrey was released to a friend after processing at police headquarters. Investigation and arrest by P.O. Brett Szatkowski.

Friday, December 8, 2017 @ approximately 5:38 PM - Police arrested Francisco Canas, age 49 of High Bridge, NJ and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol following a motor vehicle stop on Old York Road. Canas was initially stopped for an unsafe lane change. The vehicle was towed and Canas was initially transported to headquarters for processing. During processing, Canas became ill and was transported to Hunterdon Medical Center by the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad for evaluation. On Saturday, December 9, Canas returned to police headquarters and processing was completed. He was issued additional motor vehicle summonses for unsafe lane change, failure to use turn signal, careless driving, reckless driving, open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and failure to produce his driver's license.
